Wave game controls on PC: hold, release, and stay centered
In Vector Flight, holding an input makes the ship climb. Releasing it makes the ship descend. Learning both halves of that movement is the first step toward a cleaner run.
Know what each input does
Open Vector Flight and press Play now. Hold Space, the Up arrow, or W to climb. On a touchscreen, keep your finger on the game area or the Hold to climb button. Let go to descend. Clicking and holding with a mouse works too.
The ship moves forward automatically. There is no neutral hover input, and moving the mouse does not steer it. You do not need to alternate different keys: one held input and its release provide both directions. Use P to pause or R to restart while the game area has focus.
Make small corrections
A long hold is useful when you need a large upward move. Near the middle of a wide section, it can send you farther than you intended. Start with shorter holds followed by shorter releases. Notice the distance covered each time before trying to make the pattern faster.
A common mistake is holding until you are almost at the top wall and then staying released until you almost reach the bottom. That creates large swings and leaves little room for the next bend. Try to keep a smaller path around the center instead.
Look into the next bend
The channel curves gradually. Look a little ahead of the ship to see whether the safe area is rising or falling. Begin shifting toward that direction before the wall reaches you. If you focus only on the ship itself, each bend can feel like a surprise even though it was visible.
Centering is a useful default, not a rule to follow blindly. A rising bend may call for spending more time above your previous line. A falling bend may call for releasing earlier. Your aim is to preserve space on both sides while anticipating what comes next.
Use practice to isolate one section
Practice mode places checkpoints as you advance. After a crash, Try again returns you to your last checkpoint. It does not update your normal-mode best score. Use it to repeat the section that causes trouble, then turn it off to attempt the full route.
Clear Skies gives you the widest channel. Crosscurrent and Slipstream reduce the available space and increase forward speed. Stay with the first level until you can explain why a crash happened: a late release, a long hold, or a missed bend.
If the controls feel inconsistent
Check that the game area has focus, especially after using a menu. Try one input method at a time. If the animation itself stutters, use our browser performance checklist. Input timing and frame stutter are different problems, so changing both your technique and your setup at once makes it hard to tell what helped.
